The Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN) Services Program provides services to children with extraordinary medical needs, disabilities, and chronic health conditions. The CSHCN Services Program's health care benefits include payments for medical care, family support services , and related services not covered by Medicaid, CHIP, private insurance, or other “third party payors.” The program also contracts with agencies throughout the state to provide an array of clinical and support services to children with special health care needs and their families. The CSHCN Services Program also assists children and their families by supporting case management at DSHS regional offices throughout Texas.

Because CSHCN Services Program funds are limited, there may be a waiting list for health care benefits. When funds are available, the program may be able to remove clients from the waiting list and begin providing health care benefits through enrolled CSHCN Services providers. It is important to renew eligibility to maintain placement on the waiting list by renewing every six months.

Families of children with special health care needs, including those on the waiting list for CSHCN health benefits, may be eligible to receive case management services.

To qualify for CSHCN health benefits, an applicant must be: A person younger than 21 years of age who has a chronic physical or developmental condition

• That will last or is expected to last for at least 12 months; and
• That results or, if not treated, may result in limits to one or more major life activities; and
• That requires health and related services of a type or amount beyond those required by children generally; and
• That must have a physical (body, bodily tissue or organ) manifestation; and
• That may exist with accompanying developmental, mental, behavioral, or emotional conditions; but
• That is not solely a delay in intellectual development or solely a mental, behavioral, and/or emotional condition.

OR

• A person of any age who has cystic fibrosis.

All CSHCN Program Health Benefits must be medically necessary for the care and treatment of a person with a chronic physical or developmental condition who is eligible. Medicaid, CHIP, and commercial health insurance benefits, if any, must be used before using CSHCN health benefits.

I work with children wit disabilities, athletes and elders to teach new brain-changing movement options to increase movement possibilities, fluidity, grace and ease. Gentle paradoxical lessons enhance learning on all levels!

I use the Anat Baniel(sm) and Feldenkrais(R) Methods in which I have 20 years of training and experience, to help create conditions for learning and creating more options for thinking, feeling and acting in students of any age. Learning can continue throughout life - I look for ways to optimize that learning based on each individuals innate sense of health and wholeness. I believe that when students have options, they can choose what works for them based on inner feeling rather than on performance for others.

We are parents of children receiving an education in the Lee's Summit school district. We want to offer advocacy, support, guidance, and education. We meet on the first Monday of every month. We encourage families that have children with all disabilities to come and learn how to protect their children's educational rights. We also encourage families from all over the Kansas City metro area to join us.

A Behavioral Sensory Integration (BSI), Fitness, and Nutrition services company. We provide a broad range of co-located complimenting health, fitness and well-being services to the community. We do this through our own business unit services and strategic alliances with other specialized service providers.

Our business provides services for the special needs community within the local communities in which we operate, across a broad spectrum of clientele, including mainstream children (fitness, tutoring, and learning competition skills), and clients with a variety of diagnosis ranging from ADD, ADHD, Autism, PDD NOS and other learning disabilities, Cerebral Palsy, Williams Syndrome, and Aspergers Syndrome to name but a few. The development of the Behavioral Sensory Integration (BSI) [Patent Pending] approach, developed by Jerry and Tonya Bennett, has allowed Discovery Services Group to offer every family that has a member in need of specialized coaching an opportunity to participate and learn socially acceptable behaviors while simultaneously becoming better fit and in more control of their own body. The BSI and Fitness program principals were developed integrating knowledge from the fields and areas of psychology, physiology, sports medicine, special education, leadership development and occupational therapy. The BSI and Fitness program is applied in an integrated approach tailored to each client and capitalizes on incidental learning opportunities in a dynamic sports environment.

Our Nurturing Minds Unit, run by Cathy L. Buckley, PhD. provides nutritional counseling services to Special Needs families. The unit also provides tutoring services to both the special needs and neurotypical populations. Dr. Buckley is uniquely qualified - in addition to her extensive academic and practical experience, she is also the mother of an Autistic daughter and therefore has practical experience with respect to nutrition and tutoring.
